Starting to remove the main platform

We have started removing the main platform now. We started by removing the carpet and then gently removing the finished woodwork (we may want to use it elsewhere). After that we had to remove yet more hardwood flooring which gave us a nice view of the platform joists. We would have liked to have been able to leave those big 2X10 joists and just build our new floor over them. However, they ended up being a bit too high and will have to go.
