Getting Started

We begin by removing the pews and ripping up the old carpet. Next we begin removing the old hardwood flooring. The sanctuary floor is sloped. The very back of the sanctuary sits exactly 16 inches higher than the front of the sanctuary. For the production center (Studio 85), we must pull up the old hardwood floor and lay down new floor joists to level out the floor.

Take note that in the first picture at the upper right you will see a sliding glass door leaning against a stone covered baptistry. After we remove about two thirds of the sanctuary floor, the baptistry is coming out.

While some of the crew is working on removing things upstairs, the rest of the crew is working on constructing a new supporting wall in the church lower-level. I'll post some photos of that in a few days!
