A Brand New Day!

It's a brand new day for KICKS Club! It's a brand new day for me! We are still working on buying those new cameras and working towards all the packets for the kids who haven't received theirs yet. I often times have to remember that God's timing is right on! You know, we can all get so bogged down in the 'everyday' business of what 'we see needs done' for that day that we are no longer listening to the One who knows what really needs done. On one of our KidWise shows we talked about the difference between Mary and Martha. As parents in our homes and working parents it often times is so easy to loose focus on what Jesus told Martha was the 'important thing'. That important thing is what Jesus called the 'needful' thing. It brings to mind the scripture in Philippians where He tells us that, "He shall supply all our needs according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus!" Mary choose and found her needs meet! That's the secret, as parents as well as successful adults.

1. First and foremost, we need to realize that as Martha was busy the Lord never told her what she was doing was unimportant. It's the same for us, He never wants us to think what we do or need to do is unimportant. He wants us to know that He has it in His hands and control as we turn it over to Him.

2. Secondly, we need to read what Jesus said exactly to Martha. In Luke 10:41-42 we see it.

"And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her."

Here we can see what Jesus said was needful. A lot of people think that Jesus said that the needful thing was sitting at His feet. But that's not what Jesus said. He said what Mary "was doing" by sitting at His feet and listen to Him was the GOOD PART, which shall not be taken away from her! But, that was not the needful thing. What was the needful thing. Jesus said that 'ONE THING is needful and Mary HATH CHOSEN THAT GOOD PART! The needful thing is to CHOOSE the Good part! Your choices are what is needful and what you choose to do will make the difference. You must choose the 'GOOD PART"!

3. Thirdly, what is that Good Part? That is all that Jesus has said, will say, and is saying! It is Him, it is His word, it is His way of doing things and not our own. Martha was caught up in her own way of doing things, her own agenda, her own cares and troubles. She was caught up in what she was doing, and what she was also doing for Him! That in turn caused her to put her focus on others, in this case Mary, and judge her and become offended with her because Martha was caught up in herself. Jesus was telling her that the needful thing is to 'choose' the good part. To surrender to HIS ways and His direction and His timing. Give it all up to Him and let Him lead you by His divine direction!

How busy are you today? Sometimes it is so difficult to loose focus. Sometimes I have a difficult time with this. I can see what I have to do rather than what I am doing. When I surrender and do something the Lord has me to do, I can finish with that and see everything I didn't get done! What a temptation to doubt! I can give up a day and do what the Lord has directed me to do and find when it's over, that everything seems Big & Needful to me and is starring at me under a huge list that is shouting, 'YOU SHOULD HAVE, COULD HAVE, AND NEEDED TO, BUT YOU WOULD HAVE IF YOU HADN'T...!"

But, as Mary choose to trust the Lord and believe His miracle working power was there for she and Martha, the Lord took care of whatever needed to be done, and that is what I demand and will do! I choose to believe that through Christ who strengthens me, all my needs are meet by and through Him! Why? Because the greatest need for me to do is as Jesus said to do... And that is "choose to believe"! He told me, "That is the good part! BELIEVING!" Remember, "The just shall live by faith!" And that is the 'good life', the 'good part', and what makes a 'good day'!

Choosing to believe is the needful thing to do in order to enter into that 'good part' that Jesus has promised us all! He also promises as we choose to believe, that nothing it produces in our lives will ever be taken away from us! Now that can make some brand new thinking and some brand new receiving from Jesus, "if you choose to believe and act on it!"

In His love and faith,
Pastor Kim
