Excerpt from "Adoption, an Experience Worth Living" by Kim Robinson

"The learning process is the unique way to adopt. As you experience adoption, this will be one of your greatest experiences. Sometimes you will not know why you are experiencing the things you are experiencing. Why you are reacting the way you are. Why you are thinking the way you are thinking, and why you are doing the things you are doing. Yet the good news is this, "You will wake up the next day and discover it doesn't matter because you learned through yesterday's experience and are a better person and will be a better parent for it."

Experience is the greatest opportunity to become all that you are meant to be. Just ask someone who has mastered college and education in a field. Expertise didn't come from the education, that's where it began. Experience birthed expertise. Through that experience you have the opportunity to apply all that you have obtained and then found you have learned to face the greatest opportunity of all; to find humility and its character revealing to you that you have more to learn, which makes you better and smarter. That in itself speaks of parenthood and adoption. Through this understanding you can come to find that your perfection isn't what adoption agencies are looking for. They are looking for your desire to love a child and your willingness to face an 'experience' that you have never faced before with openness while looking into the lives of others who may be very different from you in their thinking and understanding. This describes and paints a picture of adoption in the lives of all, whether it be through national adoption or international adoption."©
