"The Seeker" or in the United Kingdom the film is known as "The Dark is Rising", is an unconventional Walden Media release to say the least. This movie is based on the fantasy novels written by Britain's Susan Cooper, who later married an American and moved to Massachusetts. The novel, "The Dark is Rising", won the 1974 Newbery Honor (an award given for outstanding authors by the Association for Library Service to Children, or also known as, the American Library Association). "The Seeker's" sequel, "The Grey King" won the Newbery Medal. This film gives the illusion that it is for children but, as you can see when you step into the stretched 'PG' rating (it should have held at least a PG-13), Cooper's novels are known to be primarily for older children, (which is stretching it), and for young adults.
